In what ways was the hanging of the young Pipel the ultimate challenge to young Elie's spiritual faith? How does the symbolism of "night" compare to the symbolism of the young Pipel?
The hanging of the young pipel was the ultimate challenge to Elies spiritual faith because he was younger than Elie and "beautiful" and seeing him struggle while being hanged instead of having a quick death was very hard to watch. People begin to ask where is God and why hes letting the child suffer so much. The symbolism of night compares to the symbolism of the young pipel because Night is Elies way of saying the Holocaust was a long nightmare he couldn't wake up from, and the young pipel made Elie realize that he could die any day. That if he were to get hanged, what if God didn't help him out either. It represents how Elies faith is slowly dying, just like the young pipel. They both had a big impact on Elies life since he cared much about his presence in the word and his faith.

There were many was that the hanging of the piple was the ultimate challenge of Elie's faith. The first reason is because that pipel was younger than him . I believe had developed a sort of tough skin but to see a child hung for something that was not even their fault most likely hurt by that . Even so hurt that he couldn't speak fluidly. You can see this in the end of the chapter when Elie states "Here-- He is - He is " The fact that Elie could have been that little boy and that God is supposed to protect his children was a major part in the ending of his spiritual faith. Another reason that the pipel was a major challenge was because there was no one who protected him from the evils that God was supposed. Elie seeing the little boy with "a refined and beautiful face " being unprotected by the officer . It was known by all inmates that a pipel was usual to perform sexual acts on the officer .Also that seeing even a officer who supposed to be cruel and hateful turn down the option to kill one of the jewish people . This made Elie probably feel like god was not there so that if this little boy couldn't be protected then neither could he. The symbolism of "night' is continuing throughout the story were as the symbolism of a "pipel" was just there to tell a story and show where Elie's faith was lost. The symbolism of "night and of "pipel" are both showing the emptiness that occurred after Elie got to the camp.
The hanging of the young Pipel was the ultimate challenge to Elie's faith because at that point he thought, if God were real then why you they let this angel (as they referred to the young Pipel) die? Why would he allow something so viscous to happen to such innocence? Along with the "angel" God died right before Elie's eyes.
The symbolism of night compared to that of the young Pipel because night symbolizes the Holocaust and how it became one long nightmare. The Pipel represents Elie's faith. Now that the Pipel has died Elie's faith has been obliterated completely.
The hanging of the young Pipel was the ultimate challenge to Elies spiritual faith because it made him question if God was really real. he wondered if this was happening, where is God? why can't he stop it? seeing the hanging of the young boy made Elie Open his eyes to the reality of the camps. anyone could die here the matter what age after witnessing the death of the young boy, Elie was more than grateful that he was still alive and breathing. he claimed that "the soup tested excellent" after he had witnessed the first hanging, knowing that could have been him. But after watching the young pipel Die, his faith also died and the soup that day tasted like "a corpse". The symbolism of night comparison of the symbolism of the young Pipel in different ways. but they both represent Elies faith. After witnessing the hangings, Elies faith was completely gone because he didn't believe any god would ever do anything so horrible.
The hanging of young pipel was the ultimate challenge for Elies Faith in many ways. One reason is because of the fact that pipel was so young and it could have easily been Elie. Another reason is because of the fact that he had to watch a boy close to his age being hung. The young boy also just looked so innocent and helpless when he was about to be hung and I feel as if that effected Elie. Elie also talked about how the pipel was an angel and Elie began to think if there is a god then would he let the face of an angel die so violently. The last thing that stood out to me was the fact that the young boy had to suffer for an hour after he was supposed to have been dead. After the hanging the fact the boy wasn’t dead made Elies soup taste like corpses. The symbolism of night means that the holocaust is just one bad night mare that you can’t wake up from. The pipel symbolizes that Elies faith was tested and he began to second guess his faith in god.
The hanging of the young pipels death was the ultimate impact on Elie because it made Elie no longer believe in his faith and no longer believe in God or any define being. The symbolism night compares to the symbolism of the young pipel because it was something that greatly affected him, the night affected his faith a little bit but as that grew the last straw was the death of the young pipel who was innocent and God in the eyes of Elie.
