Louis, in full well-developed paragraphs answer the following question with

is the most responsible: Perpetrators, Victims, or Bystanders?"

ReplyDeleteIn Night i believe the most responsible would be the perpetrators and the bystanders. The perpetrators in the situation would be Hitler and the Nazis because they mainly came up with the whole plan to exterminate the Jews. The bystanders would be the German society because they kind of knew what was going on but they let the Nazi's fool them on what was taking place. I don't believe the victims are responsible because, the Jews wasn't any harm to the German's until they lost war, and went for the Jews.
ReplyDeleteIn the voyage to St.Louis its hard to tell who was most responsible for what was caused and why it was caused. There were really no perpetrators in the situation because if anyone died then it was because of sickness or something. The victims were the most responsible to me because it was there fault to try and leave a place and not have the real information. I can understand if they didn't know the visas wasn't real because it wasn't much technology around like it is today. For them being rejected is there own fault they caused there own self to be denied, or have to be sent back to were they came from. The text from St.Louis didn't have any bystanders because it wasn't like where someone who got killed and you were around but didn't do nothing about it. I think the only bystanders maybe could've been when they was trying to get to America and the coast guard denied them. I feel as if someone else could've stood up and say just let some of them in and not all, but not deny all of them.
Who is the most responsible. I think out of the three of them the most responsible are the bystanders. They could have very well done something before the Jews were even expelled from their homes. Of course the perpetrators were in the wrong there is no doubt about that, but the U.S. while knowing what was going on did nothing to stop the Germans before things got extremely out of hand. The bellwork from August 18, 2016 says "I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides." Elie wants us to know that we didn't do the best we could so save those who were in jeopardy. It's like he feels we didn't even care about what was going on during that time. Elie feels that the U.S. just did not care. That we were indifferent. "Indifference is the sign of sickness, a sickness of the soul more contagious than any other." He feels strongly about the word "indifferent" & uses it a lot in his poems to emphasize how he feels.
ReplyDeleteThe most responsible for the terrible acts as well as crimes committed against the Jewish people the bystanders. The "see something say something" law or code should be in full affect at this time . There is no way these mass killings could go on for years without someone from somewhere saying or seeing anything. These people are the lowest of the low because not only did hear about but the saw it first hand . All the countries of denied access to their land were the real problem.
ReplyDeleteHitler and his Nazi's moved very fast and swift ,so i could believe that nobody knew for the first two years but after that it becomes very hard. This went years without anyone doing anything , they might made statements to their own countries but never showed up until the last minute.Bystanders receive the worst criticism because its terrible to hurt millions but its even worse. Like Elie Wiesel "to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time" Meaning basically what a bystanders dose just watch and then move on like everything's OK.
There were millions of Jews waiting on they're chance to leave and that they were almost free. Then when they got on the ships transferred out that is when the other countries decided to keep their laws tight and not let them in their country. Have the Jewish people staying on a boat for weeks along with travel. To me the countries are the Worst ."human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere" those words said by Elie himself should have applied but the countries were so worried abut their own selves that would stop the elimination of a species.
I feel as if the bystanders are responsible in the St. Louis situation because the people on that ship could have been saved if the bystanders would have helped them. In story night I feel that the victims are responsible because if they would have been more aware then they could have helped themselves by leaving. These things could have been prevented if the responsible party would have taken action instead of ignoring it or just going along. These people did not have to die point blank. The responsible ones should have taken action and that is all there is to it.
ReplyDeleteIn the story night the victims were at responsible because they ignored the waring signs and were too focused with the present. The people in Wiesel’s community were all to worried about money and being politically correct. If they would have listened to moshes then they could have left and wouldn’t have been sent to the camps. Instead they kept saying that and entire race can’t be wiped out but I happened. These key things made me feel the way I do the victims were responsible because this didn’t happen over night the people just ignored the signs that it was happening. The victims ignoring Moshe telling them how they were shooting Jewish babies and making their people dig their own graves and then being shot in front of them. These things being told to them should have made them pack up and leave but instead they just let It happened.
In the St. Louis story the responsible party was the bystanders because they could have helped the people on that ship. Instead of helping those people they just pushed them away and they knew what kind of danger those people were in but instead sent them on there way. In the story the USA could have let those people dock considering the fact that they had visas. Instead they called the visas off and the people on the ship were on aware of that. The USA could have told them but instead they practically watched them die. France did help them but not enough they helped enough for them to not to get there hands dirty. I say tis because they helped but only for a while then sent those people right back into danger. In this case I truly do feel as if the bystanders are responsible because they could have helped them more than they did.
In night i believe the most responsible were the perpetrators and the bystandards. The perpetrators were a threat because they were the master minds that came up with the idea to exterminate the Jews. The bystandards would be the people of Germany because they were gullible to believe what Hitler was saying,They also had an idea of what was going on but they believed that Hitler would make Germany better if they got rid of the Jews. The victims i don't believe where any harm because they were the ones being harmed by the perpetrators and bystandards.
ReplyDeletethe Jews i believed didn't become a problem until Hitler rose to power. The people of Germany only believed Hitler because they were in hard times and needed someone to blame in other words scapegoating.i believe the Nazi knew what they were doing was wrong but they knew if the disagreed with Hitler it would be harsh punishment towards them.So to spare their life they allowed this to happen the bystandards could have easily disagreed. i know some probably thought this was really going to help Germany and make Germany a better place but killing another group of people because of what they believed in was not and still is not the answer to anyone's problems especially t Germany problem. So yes i do believe the perpetrators and the bystandards are the ones who should take responsibility.
The most responsible are the Bystanders because they have the choice to ignore what is happening or decide to put a stop to it, and many don't do anything to help. When the Jews had a chance to get away from Germany; they packed up and boarded St.Louis, and began their voyage to America. Many citizens on board St.Louis were not granted the ability to live in America so they set out to stay in Cuba till they were approved, but it didn't turn out the way it should've; instead of approving the passengers access to Cuba; all 936 of them were denied except 28; the others had to stay aboard St.Louis and sail to the U.S. to get help.Just like in Cuba they were again denied entry and were forced to return back to Europe; luckily France,Belgium, the Netherlands and Great Britain took it upon themselves to help the Jews aboard St.Louis.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans and Cubans had a chance to help those in need, yet they ignored them and sent them away, to be killed and burned for crimes and wrong doings they didn't commit. Bystanders have the most influence on the world; they can choose to help those persecuted or ignore and go on with their life;disregarding those who need all the help they can get.
I fell like the bystanders are to blame. If these countries had put in some type of effort to help the Jews then more of them would still be alive today. Instead they chose to be selfish and think of only themselves and politics. They had more than enough man power to help these people.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the book goes i say that the victims and the bystanders are responsible. The Jews had ample opportunity and signs to get up and leave. They heard about the awful things on the radio. They still didn't listen. The foreign Jews were removed from Sighet. They still didn't catch on. Moché came back to warn them and they ignored him just the same! As for the bystanders, they too heard about these tragedies over the radio and they did nothing. They're just selfish and cruel.
When Talking about the holocaust, The Perpetrators are the ones who hold most of the responsibility. Hitler, his Nazi's, and all the people of Germany who stood by and did nothing, knowing the situation and what was happening to all those innocent people. They made people believe that what they were doing to all the Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, ill, etc. people was okay. They brainwashed the people of Germany to let something so horrible happen. And they did it with no remorse.
ReplyDeleteThe bystanders come seconds, when dealing with who is at fault.
I also like to think that some of the Nazi's knew what they were doing was wrong , and they didn't agree with Hitler, but they were scared what what would happen if they didn't agree and go with what Hitler belived in, so they joined him, just to spare their lives. But i know that most Nazi's belived that Hitlers Plan was a good one, a plan to "help" Germany. They went with everything he said and
